GOOBJOOG NEWS/JOWHAR: The body of MP Amina Mohamed Abdi who was killed in a suicide bombing in Beledweyne town of Hiran region is expected to be brought to Mogadishu in the coming hours.

Amina Mohamed’s body will be airlifted from Beletweyne Airport to the Aden Adde International Airport where a funeral procession comprising lawmakers, ministers, politicians, government officials and other members of the public will take place before her burial.

Acting Commander and Deputy Commander of Beledweyne Police Station Bashir Adani told the media that MP Amina Mohamed Abdi became one of the first casualties of yesterday’s attack after the first blast carried out by a man wearing an explosive vest killed her on the spot.

Amina Abdi was in Beledweyne busy campaigning to defend her seat HOP135, which she said in a statement early March that the Federal Government of Somalia was trying to stop her from contesting because she opposed them when she was MP in the 10th Parliament.

Although Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the killing of Amina, fingers have been pointed  at the Villa Somalia for campaigning in recent weeks to remove her from the list of candidates for her seat.

A statement released by Prime Minister Roble on her death also indicated that the late MP was assassinated for her role in the struggle for justice for the late NISA spy agent Ikran Tahlil, a case Villa Somalia has evaded to answer several months down the line.
