Prominent Islamic Scholar Sheikh Abdinasir Haji Ahmed killed in Kismayo bomb explosion

GOOBJOOG NEWS/KISMAYO: A bomb has just gone off in Kismayo amid an ongoing parliamentary election in the port city.

Among the casualties of today’s attack include, a prominent Las-anod-based Islamic Scholar and one of the former key figures of Al-Ittihad al-Islami, Sheikh Abdinasir Haji Ahmed.

Local officials have confirmed that Ahmed was killed after an IED that had been fitted to his car exploded, killing him on the spot.

The explosion took place in Kismayo’s Calanley neighborhood and it’s still unclear whether there were further casualties or injuries in today’s attack.

The Somali Minister of Information Osman Dube has conveyed his condolences to the families and friends of Prominent Islamic Scholar Sheikh Abdinasir Haji Ahmed who was killed in the explosion.
