Breaking News: Al-Shabaab fighters attack KDF military base in Southern Somalia

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) working under African Union Mission In Somalia (AMISOM) have been attacked by hundreds of heavily armed Al-Shabaab fighters at a military base in Kulbiyow, Somalia’s southern Lower Jubba region.

According to the emerging reports, Al-Shabaab started the attack with two suicide explosions that hit gates of the base before the fighters move in.

The residents say heavy gunfire at the camp after Al-Shabaab launch the onslaught.

Al-Shabaab commanders claimed that their fighters took control of the base.

Despite Al-Shabaab’s claimed,  heavy fighting is ongoing with the casualties on both sides yet unknown.
