Breaking news: Fresh clashes reignites in Villages under Galgaduud region
Clan clash has reignited between Somali clan militias and another clan militias backed Lyu police, Ethiopian paramilitary unit in villages near Somalia’s border with Ethiopia.
The skirmishes which started Saturday has cost several lives and displaced many people.
Elder Hashi Ali, who lives in one of the villages hosting the fighting, Miirowleed has told Goobjoog News that clashes involved Somali clan militia and members of the Liyu police, operating in Ethiopia’s ethnic Somali region has started the Lyu police launched operations in the villages.
“The Liyu Police Unit launched an attack on innocent civilians. They are attacking villagers and killing people who keep livestock,” he said.
He said the Somali government was aware of the clashes and also called for the intervention of Ethiopia’s government and the African Union force in Somalia, AMISOM.
This comes less three days after Liyu Police Unit which attacked several villages executed 20 persons most of them being innocent people and 29 of others injured in a week of clashes in villages near Somalia’s border with Ethiopia.
