Brief Biography: The 3 New Federal Ministers
Somali prime minister on Thursday morning sacked 3 key ministers in his administration and replaced them with 3 others who will take office with immediate effect as announced by the minister of information and culture Abdirahman Osman Omar though Somali National TV (SNTV) but who are these new ministers.
Goobjoog News carried out a research to unearth their lives and came up with few historical backgrounds about them.
Ahmed Isse Awad – Somali Ministry of foreign affairs
Ahmed Isse Awad was born in 1955. He attended Concordia University, Montreal, Canada for his First degree. Later he joined Institute of Peace and security Studies, Adis Ababa University, Ethiopia for his Masterate studies. He completed his education by obtaining PHD from Sudan University of Science and Technology in Khartoum.
Ambassador Awad has worked in many places. From 2006-2015 was an official UN worker in UNMIS and UNAMID in South Sudan and Darfur region of Sudan respectively.
From 2015 onwards, he was the Somali Ambassador to the US.
January 4th 2018, he is currently appointed as the federal minister of foreign affairs of Somalia.
Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareye – Somali Ministry of trade and industry
He hails from the self breakaway region of Somaliland and is a veteran businessman.
He elected an MP in the Somali reconciliation conference held at Mbagathi centre, Nairobi, Kenya in late 2004
He was one time the information minister in the administration of Prof. Ali Mohamed Gedi (2004-2007)..
In 2012 he was among the most influential MPs and in January 2015 he was appointed as the minister of information in the administration of Omar Abdirashid (2014-2017).
December 10th 2016 Mareye won the seat for an MP in Lower House in an indirect election held for somaliland lawmakers in Mogadishu.
January 4th 2018, he is appointed as the federal minister of trade and industry
Abdi Mohamed Sabriye – Minister of interior and federalism
Minister Sabirye was born in 1957 in Dhusamareb.
He attended his primary eduction Mataban and hig school in Galkayo.
He took his first degree in Engneering from Gaheyr University, Mogadishu, and Masters from Newcastle University in the UK.
From 1982-1990 he was a staff in the department of civil construction, ministry of public affairs.
In 1994 he worked with AU in the department of housing and environment.
He also worked with UNDP.
Later he became a businessman.
January 4th 2018 he is appointed minister of interior and federalism.
