Buubaa expresses concern over Kenya’s decision to freeze key transfer companies
Ismail Hurre Buubaa a Somali veteran politician, has expressed concern over Kenya’s decision to close 13 Somali hawalas, terming the move a ‘tragedy’ and said that it will have seriously affect on Somalis whom their country has just came out of over two decade civil war.
Bubaa speaking to Goobjoog News said that there are Somalis who work in Kenya and used to send money to their families in Somalia through remittances and he has warned of dire consequence which may lead many people to face hand to mouth life if Kenyan government sticks on its decision.
“The decision will affect many Somalis, there are many Somalis who are businessmen or do other works in Kenya, who are the centre pole of many families in Somalia” he said.
Kenya on Wednesday froze key transfer companies vital for impoverished Somalia, as part of a crackdown on alleged Shabaab supporters following the university massacre of almost 150 people by Al-Shabab fighters last week.
