GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Buur Hakaba district in Bay region on Tuesday received its first cargo flight after the completion of a new airstrip, a development seen as a boost for trade and connectivity in the area.

The airstrip answers years of appeals from residents who have struggled with limited access to air transport. Authorities and community leaders said the facility will ease passenger travel and the movement of goods to and from the district.

Locals welcomed the inaugural flight as a milestone for the town. “This is progress we have waited for many years,” one resident told reporters.
