Cabinet Approves Members of New National Higher Education Commission

GOOBJOOG NEWS| MOGADISHU: The Cabinet of the Federal Republic of Somalia has approved the appointment of 15 members to the newly established National Higher Education Commission, following a regular session held on Wednesday.

The nominees were presented by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Higher Education and were selected through what officials described as a transparent and merit-based process. The commission is tasked with overseeing the development and regulation of higher education institutions across the country.

The commission comprises distinguished scholars and professionals with extensive experience in education and public administration. The members are:

  1. Dr. Abdinur Mohamud – Chairperson
  2. Dr. Mohamed Ali Farah – Deputy Chairperson
  3. Dr. Ayaan Sheikh Abdullahi Mohamed – Member
  4. Dr. Ahmed Adam Mohamed – Member
  5. Dr. Roble Ibrahim Liban – Member
  6. Dr. Abdulqadir Abdulle Cibaar – Member
  7. Dr. Abdishakur Sheikh Hassan (Fiqi) – Member
  8. Dr. Abdullahi Mohamud Sharif – Member
  9. Dr. Abdiwahab Ali Mumin – Member
  10. Dr. Osman Mohamed Abdirahman – Member
  11. Dr. Faysal Abdirahman Abdullahi – Member
  12. Dr. Mohamed Macalin Abdullahi Kutub – Member
  13. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Nur – Member
  14. Dr. Maxamuud Yusuf Garre – Member
  15. Dr. Nadiifa Sheikh Omar – Member

During the meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre, the Cabinet also reviewed the structure of federal institutions and discussed strategies to ensure alignment with the country’s demarcation laws.

Additionally, the session included a briefing on national security and ongoing military operations to reclaim areas from insurgent control. The Prime Minister commended the Somali Armed Forces and local communities for their dedication and sacrifices in supporting the country’s stabilization efforts.

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs was also recognized for recent improvements in Hajj services. Officials noted that Somalia’s enhanced service delivery has earned it greater recognition in the region during this year’s pilgrimage season.
