Charles King Appointed New UK Ambassador to Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS|LONDON: King Charles of Great Britain has appointed career diplomat Charles Nicholas King as the new ambassador to Somalia.
A statement from the Foreign Office said King will assume his new role in May 2025.
“Mr Charles King has been appointed His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Somalia in succession to Mr Michael Nithavrianakis MVO. Mr King will take up his appointment during May 2025,” the statement said.
King served as the Joint Head of Israel/OPTs Gaza Taskforce from 2023 to 2024 and as Head of Levant and North Africa Department and UK Special Representative for Syria from 2020 to 2023.
He has also served variously in Damascus, Cairo, Baghdad, Istanbul, and Libya, among other postings.
