GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Chinese ambassador to Somalia Wang Yu has condemned what he termed a move by Somaliland and Taiwan to advocate for separation.

Speaking in an interview with a local TV station, Yu said Taiwan remained a part of China and therefore inseparable.

“Taiwan is cooperating with the political forces in Hargeisa, openly advocating for separatism. We condemn and warn against strengthening such ties,” he said. “There is only one China in the world; Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. There are many countries that support the reunification of the country. That is the fundamental truth,” Yu added.

The ambassador’s comment follows recent remarks by the newly elected president of  Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro that his administration was keen on fostering ties with Taiwan.
