Chinese Embassy Announces Financial Award to Top 50 Students in Somali National Exam
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Chinese embassy in Somalia Wednesday announced that it would offer financial award support to the top 50 students in Somalia’s National Examination in 2024.
During a press conference in the capital Mogadishu, the embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires said the awards, ranging from $1,000 to $400, aim to enhance the friendship between China and Somalia and invest in Somalia’s future.
“To enhance the traditional friendship between China and Somalia and to invest in Somalia’s future, the Chinese Embassy in Somalia has the honor to set up China-Somalia Friendship Student Award Program for 2024 National Examination. The Embassy will offer financial support to the top 50 students in Somalia’s National Examination in 2024”, Chen Wendi, Charge de’ Affairs of the embassy said.
Wendi added that wished the students who will sit for the exams success and said the awards will be based on examination rankings by the education ministry.
Mohamed Osman Omar Member of the Federal Parliament of Somalia’s committee for social affairs endorsed the move saying 37,000 students will sit for national examination on 22nd of June.
“This is a welcoming initiative in which the Chinese Embassy in Somalia introduced for the first time. It used to provide full scholarship opportunities to our students through the Ministry of Education of Somalia. This year marks the 10th anniversary for the national examination to be taken in the country after about three decades”, Omar said.
