Mogadishu residents express dismay as city remains offline for fourth day
Internet is now one of the most sought after commodity in Mogadishu as the city remains disconnected from the rest of the world for the fourth day.
Mogadishu residents have expressed their disaffection even as news of a return to normalcy seems not to be on sight.
A city resident Mohamed Bashir who is among the affected people told Goobjoog News the lack of internet had locked the city from the rest of the world.
“As you know the internet is the link across the world in terms of business or economy. It is a big thing without it people are in the dark and blind on current affairs” said Mohamed.
A student in one of the city institutions Liban Hussein has been affected by the inaccessibility of the internet service where he used to study his extra lessons through the Google and also a gateway communication to his relatives.
“I am bitterly complaining about the loss of internet where I used to download many class lessons and used to talk to my relatives living inside and outside the country” the student said.
Fahmo Dahir Tahlil, a youth female city resident who is a frequent internet user is also on the receiving end of the negative side of the internet disconnection.
‘Today the internet has a negative effect on me since its disconnection which had come to me as a big shock there seems to be no immediate solution in sight” said Fahmo.
Mogadishu has now entered the fourth day without internet connection affecting business and government operations. Reports indicate a ship plying the Indian Ocean may have damaged the fibre optic cable connecting Mogadishu and the rest of the world.
