Council of Ministers approves the child rights draft bill

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Government of Somalia’s Council of Ministers have approved the child rights draft bill.

The ministers approved the draft bill, submitted by the Ministry of Women and Human Rights on Thursday during the weekly ministers’ meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre in Mogadishu.

The bill protects the rights of Somali children and prevents violation of the rights of all young Somali people.

During the meeting, the council was also briefed about the state of the country’s security and the upcoming second phase of the war against the Al-shabaab militants by the Defense and Internal Security ministries.

The council welcomed the start of the second phase of the operation, which is planned to liberate the areas where the terrorists are hiding in the Galmudug and Hirshabelle regions.

The Council was also presented with reports related to the Security Evaluation Committee of the Government Facilities, the Internal Revenue Acceleration Plan and the National Monitoring & Evaluation Process of the 9th National Development Plan and Environmental Protection presented by the Ministries of Finance, Planning, Internal Security and Environment and Climate Change.
