Fire Damages Livestock-Laden Dhow in Bossaso port

A fire on board has  caused millions of dollars in damage to a boat carrying livestock.
The blaze started in the crew’s accommodation area on board this morning and took dozens of fire-fighters hours to extinguish it.

There are ongoing efforts to save the livestock  as firefighters said the blaze was difficult to tackle as there were so many compartments and the fire was confined and very hot.

Efforts were later made to evacuate the livestock from the vessel. It is not known how many livestock died in the incident
It is not yet clear what caused the fire.
