Danab Commandos kill 10 Al-Shabaab fighters in special Kismayo operation

GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO: Somali National Army (SNA) reported that its special forces, Danab, on Friday killed ten members of  Al-Shabab in a planned operation in the southern part of the country, Kismayo.

Speaking to Radio Mogadishu, Arab Dheg Ahmed, the Danab Unit commander who led the operation, said the group’s leader was also arrested during the special operation conducted near Yaq-Halul village, about 55km outside Mogadishu.

The Danab Unit commander also added that two AK-47 rifles and one PKM rifle were recovered from the terrorists accused of carrying out several attacks in the Lower Juba region.

Al-Shabaab, which aims to topple the federal government, has greatly expanded its network in the country, however, operations to eradicate the group are also on course, with the U.S. Africa Command also announcing Friday that it had carried out an airstrike against the group, leaving five of its members dead.
