Danab Commandos liberate villages under Al-Shabaab grip

GOOBJOOG NEWS/LOWER SHABELLE: A major operation to weed out Al-Shabaab fighters in Awdheegle and Qoryeeley districts of Lower Shabelle region in southern Somalia has been launched by the Somali National Army (SNA). 

According to the Army officials, the Somali soldiers managed to destroy Al-Shabaab courts in the villages of Adiimoole and Degwariiri between Tooratorow and Qoryooley districts.

A similar operation was conducted in Dar es Salaam and Mubarak villages, where Al-Shabaab fighters engaged DANAB Commandos in a bloody battle, resulting in casualties from both sides.

While briefing state media, the commander of the 83rd Brigade, Colonel Nurdin Moalim Hussein, revealed that four of his men were felled in the line of duty, while seven members of the terror group were  eliminated in the Lower Shabelle operation.

Danab has in recent weeks been able to secure villages under the control of the Al-Qaeda affiliated network and has managed to kill several members of the terror group.
