Body found in collapsed local government building in Mogadishu

One person was killed after a local government building in Boondhere district collapsed following heavy rains in Mogadishu.

The rains which continued overnight caused major flooding in the city as drivers were forced to abandon their vehicles in the middle of flooded roads.

“We are in the process of responding to the recent rainy season and the city has had a significant impact on the mobility and livelihoods of the poor,” said the mayor of Mogadishu.

Thousands of internally displaced people living in IDP camps in Mogadishu have also been affected by the rains.
