Defence Minister Fiqi Highlights Steady Progress in Fight Against Al-Shabaab

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi has told the Council of Ministers that the Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF) are maintaining steady progress in operations to defeat Al-Shabaab and secure areas still under militant control.

In his security briefing, Fiqi said the national forces continue to demonstrate discipline and determination in pursuing terrorists across multiple regions. He noted that recent offensives have disrupted militant networks and strengthened government control in newly liberated zones.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to intensifying security operations and consolidating gains made so far, stressing that sustained coordination between security agencies and local communities remains essential for long-term stability.

Fiqi also underscored that current military actions are part of the Federal Government’s broader strategy to restore peace, protect civilians, and build a secure environment conducive to governance and development.
