Defence Minister Fiqi Rallies Troops in Middle Shabelle Push

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi on Monday visited national army positions in Middle Shabelle, encouraging troops to sustain momentum against Al-Shabaab militants in the region.

Accompanied by Mogadishu mayor Xasan Maxamed Xuseen Muungaab, army chief Major General Sahal Cabdullaahi Cumar and other officials, Fiqi met soldiers on the frontlines and praised them for recent territorial gains.

The visit comes as government forces step up efforts to drive militants from remaining strongholds.

Fiqi told troops their advances were crucial for securing Middle Shabelle and improving stability across Somalia.
