Defence Minister, South West president mobilise forces in Bay region ahead of second offensive

Defence Minister Abdulkadir Nur and South West President Abdiasis Lafta Gareen led the mobilisation of local forces and communities Saturday in Bay region ahead of the second military offensive.

The Minister and his South West host visited areas in Dinsoor district where they met national and regional forces. The two will also be seeking the support of clans in the region to volunteer fighters in building up to the second phase of the operations.

According to the Federal Government, the second phase will cover South West state regions which include Bay, Bakol and Lower Shabelle before heading southerly to Jubaland regions of Middle and Lower Juba and Gedo regions.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been leading the operations in central regions from his operational base in Dhusamareb.
