Defence Minister Visits Frontline Troops in Middle Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS|LOWER SHABELLE: Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, accompanied by the Commander of the Somali National Army, Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, visited frontline troops and local allied forces stationed in Wargaadhi in the Middle Shabelle region.

During the visit, Fiqi praised the soldiers for their courage, sacrifice and recent gains in military operations against Al-Shabaab. He urged the troops to intensify their efforts as government forces continue their campaign to weaken the militant group.

The defence minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening support for the armed forces and accelerating operations aimed at restoring security and stability across the country.

Army Commander Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud also commended the troops for their readiness and discipline, encouraging them to maintain unity, coordination and professionalism in carrying out their national duties. He said military operations were progressing according to plan and would continue until Al-Shabaab is cleared from all remaining areas under its control.

The visit forms part of an ongoing ground tour by the defence minister and the army commander across the Galgaduud and Middle Shabelle regions. The tour is intended to boost the morale of frontline forces, improve operational coordination and assess the progress of the government’s offensive against Al-Shabaab.
