Defense Minister Says Beijing Forum Boosts Nation’s Global Voice

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Defense Minister Ahmed Moalin Fiqi said his country’s participation in the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum would strengthen Somalia’s international standing and support its role in promoting peace and security.
Speaking at the high-level gathering of defense officials from more than 100 countries, Fiqi underlined Somalia’s commitment as a United Nations Security Council member to contribute to global stability and to deepen international cooperation.
He said Somalia’s presence at the forum showed the country was moving beyond domestic challenges to play a meaningful role in global security debates.
Fiqi, accompanied by Somalia’s ambassador to China, Dr. Hodan Osman, added that such platforms were vital for building stronger diplomatic ties and advancing the government’s foreign policy agenda.
His message reinforced Somalia’s efforts to link national security priorities with wider international engagement, part of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s push to project Somalia as a credible global partner.
