Defense Ministry Pledges Stronger Inter-Agency Drive on Counter-Terrorism Projects

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Defence ministry has said it will strengthen inter-agency coordination to push forward counter-terrorism projects under the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), with implementation due in 2026.

Deputy Defence Minister Idiris Osman Haji said the outcome of the Mogadishu talks was a unified commitment by security institutions and government agencies to pool resources and expertise.

Officials agreed to identify funding and technical support needed to ensure projects deliver lasting impact.

The government said the renewed push signals Somalia’s determination to advance security gains against al Shabaab and to work more closely with international partners.
