Defense Ministry Reviews 2026 Budget Plans

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Ministry of Defense has begun reviewing its proposed 2026 budget in a high-level meeting chaired by Defense Minister Ahmed Ma’allin Fiqi.
The talks brought together senior defense leaders, including the Deputy Minister, Permanent Secretary, Directors-General, advisors, and commanders of the Somali National Army (SNA). Discussions centred on aligning next year’s financial resources with operational priorities and national security objectives.
Although details of the draft budget were not disclosed, the ministry said the review underscored its commitment to careful planning and effective management of defense spending. The move is seen as part of wider efforts to strengthen military institutions and bolster the capabilities of the SNA as it takes on greater responsibility for securing the country.
