Defense Officials Visit Liberated Awdheegle to Speed up Recovery Efforts

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: A high-level Somali defense delegation has visited Awdheegle district in the Lower Shabelle region to accelerate recovery efforts and assess conditions following its liberation from Al-Shabaab militants.
Led by State Minister of Defense Omar Sheikh Ali Gamaar and Somali National Army (SNA) Commander General Odowa Yusuf Rageh, the delegation evaluated the security situation and the impact of the conflict on local communities.
The officials said the visit focused on restoring essential services, rebuilding damaged infrastructure, and facilitating the return of displaced residents. The team inspected destroyed homes, schools, health facilities, and solar-powered systems, evidence of the militants’ widespread destruction before their retreat.
State Minister Gamaar said the government is committed to ensuring stability and supporting communities in liberated areas. “Our focus now is to rebuild lives, restore hope, and strengthen security so that normal life can return,” he said.
The visit signals Somalia’s renewed push to consolidate recent military gains with tangible improvements for civilians, turning battlefield victories into lasting stability in one of the country’s most strategic agricultural districts.
