At least one journalist was arrested as security forces dispersed angry residents who took to the streets demanding for elections.
The National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) announced last week it needed a minimum of 13 months to conduct new elections sparking sharp reactions across the political divide.
The opposition groups FNP and Wadajir party condemned the move accusing NIEC of being an appendage of Villa Somalia.
