Deputy PM Guled elected MP for Somaliland

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Guled has been elected a member of parliament in Mogadishu to represent Somaliland.
Guled got 97 votes while his only opponent Mushtaq Ibrahim Yusuf got only three votes. Former MP Hussein Arab Isse said Friday he was locked out of the race and Guled handed the certificate of participation despite not being a member of the sub-clan.
Voting continues for the second seat. Only two seats are up for a vote today. Somaliland has 61 seats in the Lower House.
The election today is the first for the Lower House.
