Federal Government Hails New Save the Children–Hormuud Deal to Boost Child Welfare

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Second Deputy Prime Minister, Jibril Abdirashid Abdille, has welcomed a new partnership between Save the Children and Hormuud Telecom, calling it a key step toward improving child welfare and driving inclusive development.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Mogadishu, Abdille praised the agreement as a model for how private companies and international NGOs can jointly address social priorities, particularly those affecting vulnerable children and families.
The Deputy Prime Minister described the partnership as aligned with the country’s broader national transformation strategy, which promotes public-private cooperation to accelerate education, healthcare, and social protection reforms.
Officials from Save the Children and Hormuud Telecom emphasized their shared commitment to improving access to services for Somali children and communities affected by conflict, displacement, and poverty.
The agreement is expected to support joint initiatives in education, digital access, and humanitarian response, building on both organizations’ longstanding presence in the country.
