Deputy Security Chief Killed in IED Blast in Belet-Hawo

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BELET-HAWO: A senior security official was killed in a land mine explosion in Belet-hayo on his way from the airport during a security inspection.

The official, identified as Abdifatah Nur Mataan, the Deputy Chief of Security and Politics for Beled-Hawo district died after he was severely injured in the explosion.

According to sources, Mataan died at a hospital in Mogadishu after he airlifted from Belet-Hawo. The mine, which was reportedly planted on the road went off as the security official drove by with his convoy.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
