Deputy Security Chief Killed in IED Blast in Beled-Hawo

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BELED-HAWO: A senior security official was killed in a land mine explosion in Beled-Hawo on his way from the airport during a security inspection.

The official, identified as Abdifatah Nur Mataan, the Deputy Chief of Security and Politics for Beled-Hawo district, died after he was severely injured in the explosion.

According to sources, Mataan died at a hospital in Mogadishu after he was airlifted from Beled-Hawo. The mine, which was reportedly planted on the road, went off as the security official drove by with his convoy.

Reports from multiple sources indicate that the town of Beled-Hawo is facing insecurity related to the militant group Al-Shabaab. Late last night, around midnight, a woman was abducted from a neighborhood in the town, and her family was reportedly attacked during the incident. The motive behind the abduction remains unclear.
