Disables in Garbaharey of Gedo region complain of negligence
The disabled people in Garbahaarey district of Gedo region are complaining of negligence and reveals a lack of protection.
Adan Mohamed Ereg, chairman for the disabled people in Garbaharey who spoke to Goobjoog News stated that Aid agencies pledged to help the disables of the district several times but nothing was done about their needs so far.
He added that more than 300 people mostly men and women are in need of employment to manage their daily life situations.
Adan Mohamed the chairman for the disables stated that people with disabilities have the same rights as people without disabilities. They have the right to work and earn a living. They have the right to get help from state and local governments and also they have the right to go to all places open to the public.
They call the administration of Garbaharey, the federal government of Somalia, local NGOs and international aid agencies to support the disables in the region.
Somalia does not have a national coordination agency that is responsible for establishing disability policies due to lack of sufficient resources that result to be regarded as burdens to their families.
