Distinguished Somali Diplomat Ambassador Mohamed Dies in the US

GOOBJOOG NEWS | USA: Long-serving Somali diplomat Ambassador Ahmed Abdalla Mohamed died in Minnesota, United States, on Saturday evening, bringing to a close a career marked by decades of public service to Somalia.

Ambassador Mohamed was widely regarded as a distinguished diplomat who represented the Republic with honor and integrity. Over the course of his career, he served in diplomatic postings in Tunisia, Algeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including an extended tenure in Riyadh, where he played a key role in strengthening bilateral relations and advancing Somalia’s diplomatic engagement.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation extended its “deepest condolences on the passing of veteran diplomat Ambassador Ahmed Abdalla Mohamed in Minnesota, USA,” noting that he served Somalia with distinction in Tunisia, Algeria and Saudi Arabia.

Before joining the diplomatic corps, he worked as an educator, teaching and mentoring generations of Somali students. He also began his professional journey as a journalist with the Arabic Service of Radio Muqdisho.
