President’s kin and a lecture killed in drive-by shooting in Mogadishu

A nephew to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and a university lecturer were shot dead this morning in a drive by shooting in Mogadishu.

The two, Liban Osman a doctor and Abdikadir Yabarow who was a lecturer at Somali International University were shot at while on their way to work in Wadajir district, Mogadishu.

There are no arrests so far and  the university has not commented on the development yet.

No one has claimed responsibility for the killing but Al-shabab intelligence branch (Amniyat) is notorious for carrying out systemic spate of killings against pro-government intellectuals and Federal government officers in Mogadishu.

In January last year a lecturer from SIMAD University was shot and killed in a similar manner as today’s while another one from Somali International University was injured when a bomb ripped off his car.
