Economic Experts Meet in Mogadishu to Review Vision 2060 Progress

GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: Economic planning stakeholders gathered in Mogadishu today for a two-day discussion on inception of Phase III of Somalia’s Centennial Vision 2060 which is part of the preparation of CV2060, that embodies an inclusive and consultative engagement with different stakeholders.

Participants included officials from the Federal Government of Somalia, Federal Member States, development partners including United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), UNCT, the World Bank, civil society organizations (CSOs), the private sector, academia, and research institutions.

The workshop highlights Somalia’s dedication to achieving its ambitious developmental goals outlined in Centennial Vision 2060 aimed transform Somalia into a middle-income country by 2060.

Key components of the workshop include presentations on findings from nationwide sectoral assessments conducted under Phase II covering governance, human capital development, the productive sector, infrastructure, trade, regional integration and private sector-led growth which forms the basis for Somalia’s Centennial Vision 2060 (CV2060).

The CV2060, launched in 2023, serves as a pivotal roadmap for Somalia’s ambitious national development agenda and once it is finalised, it will undergo rigorous public scrutiny and validation before its final adoption and implementation.
