Egypt Reaffirms Support for AU Mission to Stabilize Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS | CAIRO: Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting peace and stability in Somalia through active participation in the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).

Abdelatty met with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, in Cairo on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum, where they discussed Egypt’s planned troop deployment under the AU mission.

The minister underscored the importance of securing adequate and sustainable funding to ensure AUSSOM’s success and strengthen its coordination with international partners.

He said Egypt remains dedicated to advancing joint African efforts aimed at consolidating peace and security in Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa, describing the mission as vital to regional stability.
