Egypt, United States Reaffirm Support for Somalia’s Territorial Integrity

GOOBJOOG NEWS | CAIRO: The United States and Egypt have expressed their support for Somalia’s independence and territorial integrity amid an ongoing tiff with Ethiopia over the Somaliland naval deal.

Addressing a joint press conference in Cairo, Thursday, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken condemned what they termed as an aggressive act by Ethiopia against Somalia.

“The United States and Egypt oppose Ethiopia’s aggression and territorial ambitions,” stated Abdelatty.

The joint statement underscores the importance of respect to Somalia’s sovereignty and the need to maintain stability in the region.  

The support from these influential nations is expected to bolster Somalia’s efforts to maintain its territorial integrity amidst regional tensions.

The press conference highlighted the ongoing diplomatic efforts to address the complex geopolitical dynamics in the Horn of Africa.

Both the US and Egypt emphasized their commitment to working with international partners to ensure peace and stability in the region.
