Politician Siyad Sheikh Omar has urged traditional elders who are in the process of establishing South West regional assembly to select competent members who knows their responsibilities.
“If you put an illiterate person into the assembly, then you invited more problems, he pose danger to the Somalis, the assembly and even the people he supposed to represent, so I would like to urge the elders to verify and screen the members, and do the selection on merit” said the politician who was speaking to Goobjoog.
This comes at a time when respected people raise concerns throughout the country that criminals or Alshabab sympathizers may became members if the screening process is not tightened.
