Emotional president hears submissions by parents of soldiers training in Eritrea 

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Wednesday received the parents of Somali National Army cadets who have been undergoing training in Eritrea for the last three years.

President Mohamud, who at one point got emotional after hearing submissions from the parents, briefed them on the general situation of their sons and promised to reunite them as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the parents of the Somali soldiers who met with the President thanked him for giving priority to the situation of their children and for the urgency with which he addressed their concerns.

The meeting between the president and the parents of the soldiers training in Eritrea comes a few days after the Somali president visited the military recruits trained in Eritrea for the last three years.

Parents of the soldiers protested on Monday carrying banners reading “Bring Back Our Boys” as pressure mounted on the government to return five thousand soldiers  trained discreetly in Eritrea for the past three years.
