Energy Ministry Expands Free Power Access to Schools and Health Centres
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, working with international development partners, has provided free electricity to 335 public facilities across the country, including health centres, schools and universities.
Energy Minister Abdullahi Bidhaan Warsame toured several of the education institutions benefiting from the programme, including Somali National University, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education, and several schools in Mogadishu.
Ministry officials said the initiative is designed to strengthen essential public services by ensuring reliable and affordable power supply, particularly in the health and education sectors, which continue to face high operating costs and infrastructure gaps.
