EU calls on Federal Institutions to act swiftly and with unity of purpose

The Special Representative for the Horn of Africa Alexander Rondos and the Ambassador to Somalia Michele Cervone d’Urso remain concerned on the consequences of continued
political crisis and call for a swift conclusion of the Cabinet appointment process prior to the end of the Parliamentary session.
We urge the Somali leadership (President, Prime Minister and Parliamentary leadership) to act with unity of purpose and reach out to key stakeholders to ensure that a Cabinet is in place which will lead the country to the September 2016 elections.
It is time for delivery with only months remaining to complete essential state building, peace building and constitutional tasks.
The EU remains by the side of the Somali people and its Institutions.
