GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Upper House Speaker Abdi Hashi on Tuesday said the European Union’s support will be vital in completing the country’s long-delayed constitutional review, after meeting the EU’s new ambassador Francesca Di Mauro in Mogadishu.

Hashi told the envoy that finalizing the Provisional Constitution and passing key state-building laws remain central to Somalia’s stability and governance.

Ambassador Di Mauro praised the Senate’s progress and pledged the EU would continue to provide political and technical assistance to ensure the reforms are delivered.

The completing the constitutional process is critical for Somalia’s transition to a stronger federal system and long-term political stability.
