Ex-Puntland VP Updates President Mohamud on Regional Governance, Humanitarian Situation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU:  Federal government of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met on Tuesday with former Puntland vice president Ahmed Elmi Osman, known as Ahmed Karaash, to discuss humanitarian and political developments in northeastern Somalia, the presidency said.

According to a statement, Karaash briefed the president on the impact of ongoing drought in the region and provided an update on efforts to establish a new regional administration.

He also expressed appreciation for the federal government’s support in facilitating the formation of the emerging northeastern regional state.

The presidency did not disclose further details on the structure of the proposed administration or a timeline for its establishment.
