Explosion in Mandera town injures two people

Two people were wounded after explosions at a road construction site in Mandera on Wednesday morning.

Eye witness said the explosion occurred at the construction site, causing extensive damage to two vehicles near the site.

Reports indicated that those injured were the driver of the grader and a worker.

The security forces are conducting operations in some villages of the district to pursue the attackers and those who mastermind the explosion and to look for more possible unexploded improvised devices that could be buried under the road.

The town has experienced numerous blasts, especially on the busy Rhamu-Mandera road that passes through the centre of the border town.

On the other Al-shabab members attacked the bases of federal government forces in the outskirts of Balad Hawo district in Gedo region.

No casualties reported so far.
