GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Further details have emerged about an explosion that occurred Friday morning in Mogadishu, targeting a senior officer from the Somali Police Force.
Security sources said an improvised explosive device had been attached to the vehicle of Gen. Abdirisaaq Afgaduud, a senior official within the police medical department. At the time the device was reportedly planted, the officer was attending prayers at a mosque, according to security officials.
The explosion occurred when the officer returned to his residence near Hotel Global, where the vehicle detonated.
Witnesses and security officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries were recorded as a result of the blast.

Authorities also dismissed circulating reports claiming that a government facility had been attacked, describing those claims as unfounded.
Security forces quickly sealed off the area and launched investigations into how the device was planted and who may have been responsible.
