Explosion rocks hotel along airport road, Mogadishu

An explosion followed by heavy gunfire has hit a hotel located along the airport road off KM4  in Mogadishu.

Immediate sources point to Hotel Afrik as the target of the bombing but there is no official confirmation yet. Thick plumes of smoke could be seen from the direction of the hotel.
