Fed Government has disregarded agreement on consultations- HirShabelle leader
HirShabelle state president Mohamed Waare has lashed out at the Federal Government for what he said was non commitment to agreements regarding consultations on legislation echoing a similar concern the state leaders raised last week.
Waare who is also the vice chair of CIC said despite the agreements early this month following a meeting with the Federal Government leaders, the government had gone ahead to table bills in the Lower House without their input.
“We had agreements on the importance of consultation regarding bills. However many bills have since been tabled in parliament though we expected them to honour the agreeement,” Waare said Friday.
The Council of Inter-Governmental Cooperation (CIC) said in a letter dated November 14 seen by Goobjoog News it was dismayed the Federal Government had gone ahead to present bills before the House without their input. They called on the Senate not to debate on the bills until they were consulted.
During a week-long meeting between late October and early November, President Mohamed Farmaajo and the regional leaders issued a communique among others recommended the formation of a technical committee to coordinate a working relation between the two levels of government. The committee was expected to present a report in six months time.
