Federal government delegates jet off to Nairobi
Delegates from the federal government of Somalia led state minister of air and civil aviation, Mohamed Isack Farah headed to Nairobi to attend the high level conference on the control of Somalia’s airspace.
The minister said that they invitation from International Civil Aviation Organisation ICAO as he expressed hope over the role the conference in accordance Somalia’s ambition to to get back the control its air.
“Some of the main agendas to be discussed in the conference will be how the necessary equipments to control the air to be transferred to Mogadishu and reconstruction of Somali airports” he said.
Mogadishu airport is currently upgraded to an international standard through a project funded by the Turkish government.
After the collapse of Somalia’s central government in the 1991 civil war, the United Nations Development Program and the International Civil Aviation Organization founded a civil aviation caretaker authority for Somalia in Kenya’s capital Nairobi
