Federal Government Issues Warning as Shabelle River Waters Rise
GOOBJOOG NEWS | BELEDWEYNE: The Federal Government of Somalia’s Environment and Climate Change ministry has cautioned residents living near the Shabelle River after its water levels rose, threatening to cause floods.
The ministry urged the residents to exercise caution and maintain safe distance from the river’s banks to avert potential disaster that may be brought about by the floods.
Recent weather patterns across the region and the country have shown a notable increase in rainfall with the highest being reported at Hirshabelle, Puntland, and Jubbaland which has destroyed critical infrastructure such as roads and bridges.
The forecast by the ministry serves as a crucial advisory to communities and authorities to remain vigilant and prepared for potential weather-related challenges, especially in flood-prone areas along major rivers like the Shabelle.
