Federal government makes national burial for Somali lawmaker and famous musician
The federal government of Somalia has on Thursday organized a national burial for Somali lawmaker and a legendary musician Saado Ali Warsame who was killed in Mogadishu by armed men.
The burial ceremony was attended by Somali Prime minister Abdiweli sheikh Ahmed, first deputy speaker of federal parliament Jailan Noor Ikar, musicians and members of her family.
Speaking during the burial PM Abdiweli said Saado Ali Warsame was a hero and role model to Somali people adding that his government will repeal the assassinations and attacks of Al-shabab against the eyes of the people.
He urged the local community in Mogadishu to collaborate with the government so as to end the insecurity in the region.
The first deputy speaker of the federal parliament Jailani Noor Ikar stated that al-shabab’s targets against lawmakers will not affect the activities of the parliament. He urged the security agencies to quickly bring to justice the perpetrators.
On the other hand Puntland president Abdiweli Gaas, his deputy and former president of Puntland state Abdirahman Faroole sent condolence to the families and relatives of Saado Ali Warsame.
President Gaas said Saado was a famous musician and patriotic whose death is a great blow to Somali people all over the world adding that the late MP was actively taking part in stabilization and unity of Somali people.
Mr. Gaas through telephone call with PM Abdiweli ordered federal government to immediately deliver the body of Saado Ali to her native Puntland for national burial.
At least five Somali lawmakers were killed in Mogadishu only this year.
