Federal government opens conference aimed to tackle FGM and forced marriage
The federal government of Somalia has opened conference aimed to help give details the challenges Somali Women especially girls face like FGM and forced marriage and plans to surmount.
The opening of the ceremony was attended by deputy prime minister and religious affairs minister Ridwan Hersi Mohamed, religious leaders and representatives from women organizations.
The conference was organized by the ministry of religious affairs is expected to continue for three days.
The deputy prime minister asked the religious leaders making a keynote speech asked the religious leaders to take active role and launch awareness campaign against female genital mutilation and forced marriage.
On their side the religious leaders urged the federal government with the help of religious people to put to stop the violation of women rights to make a real difference to the lives of Somali women.
